Portland is a beautiful old seacoast town known for its boutiques, shops and unreal seafood, as well as for its friendly people, its diversity, and all that it offers to see and do. It has always been a busy seaport for both cargo and fishing, but it is also a very popular tourist destination, particularly in the summer. People flock to the town to enjoy the shopping and nearby beaches, and to soak in Portland’s unique coastal beauty. Truly, it is a beautiful city that would make a wonderful place to call home!

A Stare at Portland’s History

Portland was initially founded in when the citizens of nearby Falmouth formed a separate town and named it Portland. Prior to that, Portland had been home to the Algonquin native American people. Since its founding, the capital has grown steadily as an important port, and also as a municipality rich and industry, agriculture, culture, and diversity. It remains so to this day.

  That is a question that we obtain asked A LOT here in the fabulous PDX region. And, well, one thing that makes PDX so darned fabulous is the answer to that question.

  “There isn’t one, because we are here, we’re queer and we are everywhere!”

  And, it is real. There is no one neighborhood that is a center of gravity to our LGBT communities. And, even better, you can find queer elements in almost every nook and cranny of this wonderful town.

  We realize that may not be helpful for the newbie in town who may want to know where to begin their journey through lgbtq+ Portlandia, so in that spirit, I present the Portland GayBorhood Guide. I&#;ll break it down by area and look at all the hot and cool LGBT stuff you need to know about, no matter where you might be in the (or , for that matter).

  Portland is recognized as one of the superior five most livable cities in America and the most eco-friendly city. When you visit, you'll see why. Portland is a grassy, clean city with an open-minded atmosphere that also feels like a little town. Home to events like Event Northwest and the Lesbian and Same-sex attracted Film Fest, we believe all LGBT travelers should check in this beautiful municipality, the largest metropolis in Oregon.

  Portland is special because it has mountains, forests, and water all around it. It has Mount Hood far away, Forest Park nearby, and five waterways next to by. Portland's location is unique and beautiful.

  Portland may not be as openly gay as San Francisco, but it has one of the most prominent feminist and woman-loving woman communities in the U.S. You can find gay and lesbian bars all over Portland, and most places are welcoming to the LGBTQ+ community. The Hawthorne District in the southeast area is known as the main queer woman neighborhood, with plenty of trendy, affordable coffee shops, bars, thrift stores, and boutiques along Hawthorne Boulevard and Belmont Street.
