But though lay delegates and members of the clergy voted largely in favour of the move late Friday in Vancouver, they did not get together the two-thirds threshold among the bishops.
The motion had been approved in a first vote at the last general assembly three years ago, but it needed to be validated at two meetings in a row.

Goodbye to the Anglican Church of Canada
With the recent vote to officially endorse same-sex marriage, the Anglican Church of Canada has at last demonstrated its faithless and apostate direction. True Christians must fetch out.
Commenting on the existence and thought of Nietzsche G.K Chesterton set forth a universal truth, that “The man who thinks without the proper first principles goes mad…”[1]Madness would increasingly seem to be the right term to describe the decisions of Canadian Anglicanism. Their contemporary first principles being wrong, doctrinal and ecclesiastical idiocy is the result. Their foundation has ceased to be the Word of God in much of the church. Instead, man’s own will is permitted to rule and judge truth and justice. The insightful Canadian philosopher George Grant understood the contemporary cultural view well:
Justice is understood to be something strictly human, having nothing to do with obedience to any divine direction or conformity to any pattern ‘laid up in heaven.’ Moral principles, like all other social conventions Some members of General Synod bend their head in prayer before the vote on gay marriage is called. The vote came after a five-hour legislative session on the floor of synod, in which more than 60 members from all orders and regions of the church spoke about their support, opposition and ambivalence concerning the motion before them. Many members expressed sorrow that no matter how they voted, it would bring about pain to someone. Many members told highly personal stories of their have treatment as LGBTQ [Lesbian, Gay, Bi-curious, Transgender, Queer] people, in A lot has happened since I last wrote for Common Threads in May. The Anglican Church of Canadas General Synod did not pass the second needed vote to affirm same-sex marriage across the church. This was a heartbreaking loss for all queer Christians in Canada, as we were again reminded how many people view us as not REAL Christians. Oh, and our minister the one who was going to marry us regardless of how the vote went left our church with no warning or explanation. My partner, Katy, and I were left wondering who was going to marry us in February. We are getting married in an Anglican church so the sensible response would be an Anglican priest, right? But Im not Anglican I grew up Roman Catholic, moved to the United Church of Canada more than a decade ago, and have been attending my partners Anglican church with her for the last three years. I have several friends who are United Church ministers, plus a limited close Quaker friends. Katy and I were both stressed about this did we want a stranger to marry us? Was it importa
