Local restaurant Hungry Pants at S. Orange Ave. was recently recognized in a Visit Orlando campaign for LGBTQ+ businesses in Primary Florida.

Owners Alex Marin and Joey Conicella first opened the “plant-curious” restaurant in after running the Yum Yum Cupcake Truck. While the menu focuses on plant-based foods, multiple protein choices are obtainable at Hungry Pants, including meat.

One of Stop by Orlando’s marketing initiatives is to connect with key diversity audience segments, including the LGBTQ+ community. Part of the initiative in June was to point out Orlando’s unique dining scene during Pride Month.

Visit Orlando created an Instagram guide to LGBTQ+ owned restaurants throughout Orlando, including Island Time, Se7en Bites, Pom Pom’s Teahouse & Sandwicheria, Hamburger Mary’s, Bites & Bubbles, Quantum Leap Winery, The Hammered Lamb and Hungry Pants.

Visit Orlando helped pioneer Diverse tourism with the imaginative Gay Days in Orlando was even named the first “City of the Year” by .

Our LGBTQ+ community has made great strides, and I am a haughty ally who believes it is important to main attraction and support LGBTQ+ owned businesses to show they are loved and treasured. I am hearing some terrible news on facebook: Parliament House is said to be closing its doors for good this Sunday after the Halloween weekend celebrations.

This place has been an institution for 45 years, and was my favorite local haunt to visit for Gay Days. There was always a big demonstrate on the stage over the pool (I&#;ve seen Sandra Bernhard, Miz Cracker, Asia O&#;Hara, Aquaria, Peppermint and more there). I enjoyed it because it was truly something for everyone: indoor dance floor, outdoor dance floor, more chill bar areas, stage shows, a seedy motel (and during gay days lots of booths from various retailers, and a "foam party" enclosure I always had to laugh at b/c there were only maybe ppl in at a second and the foam would always be blowing out of the enclosure! haha) And you could always take a walk to the lake in back and end your night with a peaceful conversation looking out over the water.
